Transcend Network Newsletter - The Genesis π
The very first issue of our newsletter. To many more! π₯
Hey there, Alberto and Michael here. Welcome to the first issue of the Transcend Network Newsletter!
After six months of hard work, we are ready to launch the Transcend Network, a project that will gather youth and thought leaders around the future of learning and work.
The Newsletter is one of the key pillars to our mission, and weβll be sending it out every other week filled with content, analysis, featured leaders/startups and lots of opportunities!
As we launch our first issue, we want to encourage you to give us feedback and ideas (you may do so here) and if you like it, to please share it with a friend!
To know more about our vision, read our Medium article. You can find more on our Transcend Network website and Medium publication.
Hereβs a brief overview: in order to gather the best group of youth and thought leaders around the future of learning and work, we are going to focus on growing this newsletter (providing all the content and analysis to a wider community) as well as developing a 4-week remote program for cohorts of 20 members (focusing on our internal community) that will get all the resources and connections to address issues in the space. We want to develop this community by bringing in more resources, partners and connections to it, and see where this can take us!
The ISA craze has just begun: in Life Capital, Erik Torenberg (Village Global, OnDeck) gives an overview of how Income Sharing Agreements are being used today and the opportunities for the future, especially in education. A more pessimistic piece from EdSurge describes the potential shortcomings and arguments against this market-driven approach to individual funding.
Technology will change the meaning of intelligence: Rose Luckin, education expert from UCL in London (whom we met this November), gives an overview of how education will adapt to new technologies and definitions of intelligence in the coming decade.
How Students are Founding, Funding and Joining Startups: great TechCrunch article on how young students (mostly in the US) are creating opportunities for themselves and utilizing new initiatives earlier on
Pay to Play launched: our friends at Pay to Play (a community and platform focused on venture capital and tech for youth) launched very recently, great follow for exclusive content, insightful analysis and interviews!
Democratizing technology through No-Code apps: you can start seeing the opportunities that these apps enable through the Product Hunt MakerFair, where projects like Direct2Β’ (EarlyCapital), MakerPad School, Peeps or the Indian Startup Guidebook are built in days using Coda, Zapier, Sheet2Site and others that require no coding experience.
In India, MOOCs Are Now Part of the Education System: overview of SWAYAM in India, the public MOOC provider with over 2,000 courses from 130 institutions that now count for actual academic credit.
ASU GSV Summit (April 8th-10th, San Diego, CA): one of the largest edtech conferences globally, Michael will be there in case you are around!
EdSurge Live On Air Podcast Interviews Live from ASU GSV powered by our friends at Shindig (April 8th, Online)
